What IS it like to leave behind everything you know … you own … you love … and make a new home in a new place?
Join us as several local people tell their stories of coming to the U.S. in
New Land … New Life: An Evening of Storytelling on February 17.
Among our speakers will be Steve Ly, Vice Mayor of the City of Elk Grove. A refugee of the Secret War of Laos, he came to the United States of America when he was four years old. Steve was elected in 2012 to the Elk Grove Unified School District as its first Asian Pacific Islander member—and the first elected Hmong-American in Northern California.
Come at 6:30 p.m. for free refreshments.
The program starts at 7 p.m. and ends by 8:30 p.m.
There is no cost to attend, but donations of canned and packaged goods for the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership Food Closet will be gratefully accepted at the door!
